Wow I need to update more often. I'm always thinking, 'I should check my blog, but there's not really anything new...' but then as soon as I get on here, my fingers are flying! It's quite strange really.
1. I'm on page 26 of my Doujin. Whoo.
2. I'm on the last chapter of Num6. SOB.
3. I'm starting a new story called ALT. Yay.
4. And I have a really big project planned, projected to take two years. UGH.
But first...
THE DISASTER
Recently, my school put on the show, 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. It's a small school, so I was the fearless leader with a total of five irregular minions. One of the days of practice, I had my tablet pen with me. I didn't want to lose it, so I put it in my back pocket. Mistake number one. So I continued my work like a good little elf, until it was time to take a brake. So I whipped that sucker out of my pocket. Mistake number two. It exploded. D: So I looked at it and thought, 'I can fix this' and crammed the chip into the barrel of the pen. Mistake number three! It got stuck. So I had to go a whole week with my little body. BUT I GOT A NEW ONE AND IT'S BETTER THEN THE OLD ONE. It came with extra nibs.
Okay, so I talked about the first two projects already, so moving on to ALT. It's a mutated version of Beauty and the Beast. In this version, Beast isn't cursed or scary or needs to fall in love, bla bla bla, he just wants to be normal. This is Creature. Once a teenage boy, now turned government experiment for national security. Creature wants to learn and makes friends. So his lovely tormentors hire Annie Moretti, A high school student from San Francisco. The story follows the strange duo through Creatures journey to humanity. Coming soon! Literally, I wrote the first chapter on my IPod sitting in a cafe in Chicago.
Second Project.
I'm absolutely head over heels in love with Studio 4c. It's a super anime company with 12 different directors ranging from 'Cowboy Bebop' to 'Ghost in the Shell' to 'Escaflowne'. They are famous for 'The Animatrix', 'Batman Beyond', and 'Tekkonkinkreet'. Recently I stumbled upon a collection that they made called 'Genius Party' consisting of six different movies each about 20 minutes long. None of them have a plot, they just go. AND IT'S BIZARRE. But beautiful.
My favorites were 'Limit Cycle', which had bad reviews, and 'Dimension Bomb'. 'Limit Cycle' featured a very real looking, nameless man, in a holographic style. He is playing the role of God as he looks out over the city. The video touches on Salvation and knowledge in all sorts of different categories. Did I mention the whole thing looks like it's taking place INSIDE of a Computer? It's truely fantastic work. The reviews said it was boring, and I admit, I watched it first without subtitles and it was much more entertaining.
'Dimension Bomb' was about....I think an alien falling in love with a human girl. Although I'm really not sure. The whole time, she was talking about tempura and ice cream and liking hot and cold things. My favorite part was when the alien was floating upside down through the city with his mouth open. Yeah, weird, I know. But this comes from my favorite director who combines Complex Geometric backgrounds and simple organic characters for a WHAAAA? Effect. It's epic.
Now, because of this series, I was inspired to do an animation. Unlike Koji Morimoto, I will be doing three dimensional backgrounds with two dimensional Characters. It should pretty cool...If I can figure out Blender.
Here are some Screen shots of Limit cycle:
And Here are some from Dimension Bomb:
That's my Favorite. :)
